How much does it cost to rent an electric car in Dubai?
A Tesla Model 3 is AED 500 a day, which is the cheapest electric car in the fleet. A Tesla Model Y is AED 449 a day, a Tesla Cybertruck AED 2,499 a day, and a Rolls-Royce Spectre, the only electric Rolls-Royce, AED 5,299 a day. VAT, comprehensive insurance and delivery in Dubai are in those rates, there is no security deposit, and nothing is blocked on your card.
Charging an electric car in Dubai
Charging is easier here than in most cities. DEWA Green Charger points are spread across Dubai, the malls and most hotels have them, and Tesla runs its own Superchargers in the city, which the car navigates to on its own. A full charge overnight covers a normal day of city driving with a wide margin, and a Supercharger stop takes minutes rather than hours. Range is only worth planning around if you are heading out to Hatta, Jebel Jais or Abu Dhabi in one day.
Which electric car should you take?
The Model 3 is the sensible one for a week of city driving, and at AED 500 a day it is cheaper than most petrol cars of its size. The Model Y adds the boot and the height that a family needs. The Cybertruck is the one people stop to photograph. The Spectre is for the occasion: a wedding, a shoot, or an evening where the car is the point.
