Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to every vehicle rented from Hermas Car Rental. They sit alongside the rental agreement you sign when the car is handed over. Where the two describe the same thing, the signed agreement is the one that governs your rental.
Who we are
Hermas Car Rental is the trading name of HERMAS CAR RENTAL L.L.C, a company licensed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Who can rent
The driver must be 21 years of age or older and must hold a driving licence that is valid for at least six more months from the start of the rental. It is the remaining validity that matters, not how long you have held the licence.
Visitors renting on an international or home-country licence should bring their passport and entry stamp. Residents should bring their Emirates ID.
Additional drivers are permitted. Every additional driver must meet the same requirements and be registered before they drive. A registration fee applies and is quoted case by case, because it depends on the vehicle and the length of the rental.
Booking, payment and minimum period
The minimum rental period is 24 hours. Payment can be taken either when you book or when the car is handed over, whichever you prefer.
Displayed daily rates include VAT.
Mileage
Rentals include an allowance that averages 250 km per day across the rental period. It is an average over the whole period rather than a hard limit on any single day, so a long drive one day and a short one the next is not a problem. Distance driven beyond that allowance is charged, at the rate set out in your rental agreement.
Security deposit and insurance
Hermas takes no security deposit on any car, for any duration. A document is signed at handover instead.
Vehicles are covered by comprehensive insurance, in line with what is permitted under the law of the United Arab Emirates and under our agreements with the insurers. In the event of damage, the excess payable is set by the insurance contract rather than by us, so it is confirmed to you before the rental starts rather than published here.
Delivery and collection
- Anywhere inside Dubai: delivery and collection are free, always.
- Outside Dubai: free on rentals of 30 days or more. For shorter rentals outside Dubai, a delivery charge is quoted before you book.
Individual offers may vary these terms, and any variation is stated with the offer.
Using the vehicle
- The vehicle may not be taken outside the United Arab Emirates.
- Unpaved roads and rough ground are fine. Dune bashing and open desert driving are not permitted, because they carry a real risk of damage to the vehicle.
- The vehicle may only be driven by the renter and by drivers registered with us.
- Fuel is returned at the level it was supplied.
- Smoking in the vehicle, and carrying animals in it, result in a cleaning charge.
Salik, fines and charges
Salik road tolls are passed on at cost, up to a maximum of AED 7 per crossing.
Traffic fines are the responsibility of the driver and are charged at their face value, together with a small administration fee for processing them. That fee is not a fixed amount and is set out in your rental agreement.
Returning the vehicle late
Late return is charged at the daily rate of your rental, for each day of delay. If you need longer, tell us before the rental ends and we will extend it where the vehicle is available.
Cancellation
Cancellation is free, with no deadline. If your plans change, tell us and there is nothing to pay.
Accidents, damage and impound
In the event of an accident, you must report it to the police and obtain a police report, and tell us as soon as you are able. An insurance claim cannot proceed in the UAE without a police report.
Where a vehicle is damaged or impounded, what follows is governed by the rental agreement you signed and by the law of the United Arab Emirates.
Chauffeur service
A chauffeur can be arranged on request, according to what you need. It is not a standard part of a rental and is quoted separately.
Governing law
These terms, and any rental made under them, are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any dispute falls to the courts of Dubai.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your rental is the one in force on the day the rental agreement is signed.

These terms are published in Arabic, English, French, German, Hebrew, Russian and Chinese. The translations are provided for your convenience. Whichever language you read them in, the rental agreement you sign and the law of the United Arab Emirates are what govern your rental.
