How to Rent a Car in Dubai Without a Deposit: What to Know
From car reviews and industry updates to maintenance advice, driving tips and buying recommendations, our blog brings together everything you need to stay connected to the world of cars.

To rent a car in Dubai without a deposit, choose a company that blocks nothing on your card and bills Salik tolls and traffic fines after the rental instead. At Hermas there is no security deposit on any car, for any duration: you pay the daily rate, which already includes comprehensive insurance and VAT, and the car is delivered free anywhere in Dubai.
What is a security deposit in a Dubai car rental?
A security deposit is an amount a rental company holds while you have the car, to cover costs that may only appear after you return it. It is usually a block on a credit card rather than a payment, and many companies in Dubai ask for one, often a larger amount for sports and luxury cars.
The reason is timing. Salik tolls and fines from speed and red-light cameras are recorded against the car’s plate, and they often reach the rental company days after the trip, sometimes after the customer has flown home. Damage found after the return is the other reason.
What does a card block mean for a tourist?
A card block means part of your credit limit is reserved and cannot be spent, even though no money has left your account. For a visitor on a short trip that can matter more than the price of the rental, because the same card often pays for the hotel, restaurants and shopping.
The block is not lifted the moment you hand back the keys. Many companies keep it for a period after the rental to wait for late tolls and fines, and after they release it your bank can take more time to show the full limit again.
How does renting a car without a deposit work at Hermas?
At Hermas there is no security deposit on any car, whatever the length of the rental, and nothing is blocked on your card. That applies to a city car for a weekend and to a supercar for a month alike.
You pay the daily rate, which already includes comprehensive insurance and VAT. Salik tolls and any traffic fines are billed at cost after the rental, and Salik is capped at AED 7 a crossing, so you see each charge and pay only for what was actually used.
The mileage allowance averages 250 km a day across the rental period, enough for city driving and a day trip to Abu Dhabi. Delivery and collection are free anywhere in Dubai, the airport included, and the car usually reaches you in about 20 to 30 minutes. If you would rather be driven, a chauffeur can be booked with the car.
We work from our own office in Al Quoz, Dubai, and booking is by WhatsApp with confirmation the same day.

What should you ask any rental company before you book?
Whichever company you choose, a few direct questions tell you exactly what you will pay and what will be held. Ask them before you share your card details.
- Is anything blocked on my card, and how much?
- When exactly is the block released after I return the car?
- How are Salik tolls and traffic fines charged, and is anything added on top?
- How many kilometres are included, and what does an extra kilometre cost?
- Are comprehensive insurance and VAT included in the daily price?
At Hermas the answers are short. Nothing is blocked, so there is nothing to release. Salik and fines are billed at cost, the allowance averages 250 km a day, and comprehensive insurance and VAT are in the daily price.
